Similar to how you can go treasure hunting in Joy Town, at the Campsite, you can reel in rewards by going fishing. Just talk to Fischer, the camp's fishing guru, to borrow a pole and you're good to go!
The rewards you get will be based on the results of what you catch. Basically, the higher the rarity, the better rewards you will receive. That said, you should keep in mind that:
1) Trade-in rewards for fish will only be given up to the first 5 fish you catch per day.
2) Junk will only be redeemed for Gold up to 10 times per day.
▼ What happens after I've caught 5 fish or 10 pieces of junk?
Don't worry! Even after you've received all rewards for the day, all you avid anglers can still continue to fish for fun as long as you like! There is no limit on "fishing" itself.
▼ Let's go fishing!
First things first, you need the proper gear. Make your way over to Fischer's hut near camp center, and he'll happily lend you a fishing pole.

Once you've got a pole, you're ready to get fishing! Head over to any of the camp-approved, off-pier fishing spots to start casting your line.
All piers around the island allow fishing and are easily located by large floating signs like in the image below.

You'll know when you've found a designated fishing spot when you see this hook icon appear. Tap the icon to cast your line from that spot.

Be patient while you wait for a fish to come nibble at the hook. When you get a bite, the bobber will bounce slightly, and the word "HIT!" will appear.

▼ Time to haul in your catch — timing is the key!
After you've hooked something, you'll see an "action button" displayed over the water, on the lower half of your screen. You need to tap this at juuust the right time to successfully haul up your catch.

A white outer ring will appear around the action button and begin to close in around it. Tap the action button just as the ring aligns with the button's border and they shine red.
If you are successful, you'll be shown your trade-in rewards and what you caught.
(If you happen to catch junk, instead of rewards, it'll be redeemed for 1 Gold.)

Fishing will resume 5 seconds after seeing the results of your last catch. If you would like to take a break or try another spot, tap the "Quit Fishing" button to stop fishing at that location.
If you failed to catch anything at all (fish or junk), you'll automatically recast your line to try again.
